Vkraina allows to spotlight the history of Ukrainian national identity formation through the eyes of European cartographers and researchers of XVI-XVIII centuries. Each map carries a unique distinctive image of Ukrainian land as seen by the Europeans of that time with all of the names and boundaries caught in their diversity. The app will deepen your knowledge in the history of Ukrainian lands cartography in an interactive way.
Vkraina app offers users to check-in in the past. For instance, while browsing the “Special map of Ukraine”, 1665, you can share your location with friends on Facebook; it will state, I am near Lutsk in 1665. The app offers a background playback mode for the music, composed by Vadym Borisenko for the project.
